Hello, I’m Jon.
I strive to furnish those whom I serve the experience of being deeply understood. That sentence is the closest thing I have to a mission statement, and everything else about how I work follows from it.
My journey to this work
We don’t choose the counseling profession. It chooses us. I believe I am meant to be in this role because of life experiences that led me to dedicate myself to helping others heal and evolve. That is not a credential you can put on a wall, but it is the reason I am still doing this work years later, and still finding it worth doing.
I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2017. In that time I have sat with people through grief, terror, numbness, rage, and the very particular loneliness of feeling like nobody quite gets it. What has stayed constant is my conviction that being understood is not a nice side effect of therapy. It is the medicine.
Who I work best with
I work best with individuals who like to laugh and who are open to identifying both their strengths and their personal challenges. Humor is not a distraction from serious work. Often it is the thing that makes serious work survivable.
I help people navigate trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, and self-acceptance, while respecting all dimensions of who you are, including matters of spirituality.
How I tend to work
I often lean toward psychodynamic ways of working, with deep sensitivity to inner complexity and to your particular circumstances. I am interested in the whole shape of a life: what happened, what it meant to you, and what you built in response.
That said, I tailor my approach to each individual. I draw from solution-focused, strength-based, person-centered, transpersonal, cognitive behavioral, and psychoeducational methods, whichever will best support what you are seeking to accomplish.
My demeanor
Patients tell me I have a very gentle and kind demeanor. I am never pushy. I always attempt to match my client’s mood and demeanor so as to join them, and to help them feel less alone in whatever problems they might be facing.
I also believe good therapy involves developing a good relationship, and I am not reluctant to share my own life experiences when they are relevant to the problems we are addressing.
The practical details.
If you are checking licensure or looking for information for your insurer, here is what you need.
I identify as

I share this because finding the right fit matters, and some people want to know something about who is sitting across from them before they decide.
